A wedding album is more...
Throughout the 2010’s the majority of couples were asking me and my photographer friends for digital only copies of their weddings, portraits and events. When I shot my first wedding for Kodak Imaging in 2005 I shot on medium format film with 12 pictures per roll. The thought of no printed album was considered absurd. Every picture was taken with great care and exposures had to be spot on because they were taken with a book in mind and not to be stored on a data drive.
As I bought my first digital camera I realised that the speed and simplicity digital afforded me was quite a revelation. As with any new technology things are streamlined and improved for speed and efficiency however, I feel that many things were lost in this decade.
There was a real shift towards jpeg files on a USB disc and couples were happy with this as they could print an album later on. Another was the amount of cameras now appearing at weddings, then tablets (remember those) and latterly EVERYONE had a smartphone and it was an issue for photographers especially.
Thankfully, the pendulum is swinging back to what is best and almost half of my weddings are now unplugged, this means no smartphones on during the wedding and no pictures of the couple because…they hired a professional to do this.
Equally many more couples are asking for physical copies of prints and albums are now much more on demand than say 10 years ago.
The problem with USB sticks are, are they stable? Will they get corrupted like my entire CD collection. Will the dog eat it?
My prints and albums are all of archival quality unlike the faded C-prints in most peoples houses and collections.
I work with Graphistudio, the world’s leading album maker based in Italy, to provide you with stunning, luxurious wedding albums that truly withstand the test of time. I highly recommend that every couple considers having their wedding memories preserved in one of these exceptional albums. While your album may be tucked away for safekeeping, its sentimental value and the “wow” factor only grow over the years.
Imagine decades from now, your children or even grandchildren discovering the album. Picture their delight and surprise as they see photos of a young mum and dad on their wedding day. It’s a beautiful experience I cherish with my own kids, and I’m sure future generations will appreciate these memories just as much. Investing in a wedding album is not just about keeping photographs; it’s about safeguarding a priceless family heirloom that will outlive all of us, capturing and preserving your love story forever.
My professionally crafted and printed Wedding Heirloom albums start at £399.00 for a 25 x 25cm book.
An album is a gift to your future family, friends and yourself.
